A Short Sunday Something

Posted by Matthew

So it’s not much of a title but at least it’s a triple :-) (kinda an inside IEW writing joke, sorry)

Our “regular” Sunday School teacher is busy being the Swine Superintendent at the Fair this week so our Pastor filled in for him this morning. Then for the morning message he preached on Christian Baptism–appropriate since there’s a baptism scheduled for this afternoon at Five. It might be in the rain, (it’s raining now) since the forecast calls for a 75% chance of rain at 6pm. Although the official (constitutional) church belief is in immersion, it appears that the candidates may also be sprinkled! [One thing Pastor emphasized is that we should have a spirit of humility in presenting our beliefs, since not only are we commanded to love one another, but also that ultimately, there is only one faith and one baptism (Eph 4:5).]

I would also like to share a snippet from one of the songs:
Tho my heart grows weary,
I never will despair

which I thought was a good reminder to ‘keep on keeping on.’ For after all He Lives!

On another note: A few of my chickens have turned broody. And at least one downright mean. She tried to destroy my flashlight–pecked it so hard I’m surprised it didn’t break the lens. Before I could reach right under no problem–seems she’s a might protective now though…. So any how we’ve decided to let the hens be and see what happens, all we’ll be out is a few eggs, and we might get some chicks. We’ll have to see how it turns out.

Well in keeping with the promise of “Short” I’ll sign off now,
Matthew

P.S. Jonathan’s 18th birthday is tomorrow, so drown him in birthday comments!

Happy Birthday, Jonathan, from the other Jonathan in ND! The two things I liked best about turning 18 was being able to vote and buy ammo myself. Hope you have a good day!

Thanks guys! I just missed the millage elections a while back, but there will be more. And in a couple years, the opportunity to support guys like Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin on the national level.

I may have to buy a gun before I buy ammo, but like they say, Obama is the best gun salesman in the world right now–maybe he’ll sell me an AK-47 with my car. :-)

And Benji, I will see you in the fall, Lord willing–though I’ve been shamefully neglecting my trumpet. It would much more enjoyable if the 3rd valve slide would work again…

P.S. I do have a blog post in the works–I’ve got 1500 words done, and anticipate around 5000 before I run out of ideas. It may turn into a couple of posts. :-)

I will leave you in the dark about the subject of the blog post, just to say that I’ve decided to make it at least a four part series. Suspense is key to marketing. Expect the series to begin sometime this week. :-)

I bet the trumpet does need a bath, but kind of doubt that will help the slide. See, I dropped the actual slide on the cement at the capital steps several years ago (it has been a pain ever since). It’s been in to Marshall’s twice for repairs on that slide, and once for a chemical bath. They’ve got it working enough to tune notes, but it wears out the finger really quickly. I may pick the trumpet up this week again anyway. :-)
